We are super happy to have managed to seduce the following guest klezmorim to support the act ; legendary cimbalon player Per Karang, black electronica maverick Zweizz. Inger Reidun Olsen / Kompani Iro will provide a taste & perhaps instruction in the the traditional spaceklezmer-ergotistic hora-dance.

Michael Reynolds er arkitekt og en av verdens ledende utviklere av bærekraftig boligbygging gjennom Earthship Biotecture. I over førti år har han tegnet og bygget hus som varmer og nedkjøler seg selv, er bygget av naturlige og gjenbrukte materialer, produserer egen elektrisitet, samler eget vann, behandler eget kloakksystem og hvor det dyrkes egen mat. Han har utgitt syv bøker, er initiativtaker til 3 “off-grid” borettslag, er hovedpersonen i dokumentaren Garbage Warrior og reiser rundt hele verden med sitt team for å demonstrere Earthshipens bærekraftsprinsipper.

De seneste internasjonale prosjekter inkluderer et tehus i Nederland, et bærekraftig hjem i Nicaragua, et økosenter på Jamaica, et orkan-herberge i Mexiko, og demonstrasjonsbygg i bl.a Skottland, Norge, Spania, Japan og Bolivia. Vinteren 2008-09 var Michael Reynolds gjestelærer på Bergen Arkitektskole, og for tiden samarbeider han med guvernøren på Galapagos i forbindelse med byggingen av et institutt for bærekraftig livsopphold.

There are 12 chairs around the table with a tabouret for the occasional 13th guest. There is no specific theme or aim for getting together, except enjoying an excellent meal and conversation.

Fredrik Söderbergs föreläsningsserie på Konsthögskolan

Föreläsningsserien kommer att pågå under vt 2010.

Föreläsningsserien kommer att ta upp olika aspekter av det utvidgade sinnet, olika magiska praktiker och dess relationer till konstnärligt arbete.

Det har under alla tider funnits ett stark intresse för det esoteriska och religiösa i tillvaron hos konstnärer.

Föreläsningarna syftar till att ge en allmän introduktion till några av de viktigaste tankegångarna och till ämnen och personer som har påverkat vårt sätt att se på bildkonst, litteratur och musik.

Jag ser gärna att man deltar i så många av föreläsningar som möjligt eftersom de kommer att beröra varandra tematisk, men man är naturligtvis välkommen att gå på enstaka föreläsningar också! Föreläsningarna är öppna för alla.

10/2 Carl Abrahamsson - Aleister Crowley.

Föreläsningen kommer att ingående och historiskt gå igenom Aleister Crowley som person, hans magiska system, bildkonst, poesi ochkopplingar till vår samtid och hur han har påverkat litteratur, konst och ockultism/magi.

Carl Abrahamsson skrivit flera artiklar om Aleister Crowley och hans arbeten, han är också en av de personer i Sverige som är kunnigast i ockultism med lång och personlig erfarenhet i ämnet.

17/2 Marcus Mårtenson - Carl Gustav Jung och den kreativa krisen, bildens förmåga att hela.

Marcus Mårtenson fil. kand i religionsvetenskap med Jungiansk psykologi som grund. Mårtenson har även studerat Jungiansk psykologi vid Institutet för Analytisk Psykologi.

24/2 Martin Karlsson - Rollspel.

Konstnären Martin Karlsson berättar fritt om rollspelens historia, om rollspelskultur och om hur rollspelen influerat konst och arkitektur, samt hans eget skapande.

03/3 Jens Näsström Konsten att bli en gud - deifiering inom den indo-tibetanska tantran.

Föreläsningen introducerar olika perspektiv – religiösa, psykologiska, filosofiska, konstnärliga och praktiska – på deifiering inom indo-tibetansk tantra. Materialet är uppdelat i två avsnitt, där den första delen fungerar som en introduktion och presenterar en översikt av deifieringsprocessen i denna ymnigt rika magiska tradition. I den andra delen sätts tantrisk deifiering i relief mot olika förståelsemodeller, såväl tibetanska som västerländska, och det egentliga skeendet och målet skärskådas. Vi kommer också att titta på den starka bandet mellan tibetansk konst och deifiering.

Jens Näsström arbetar som psykolog och är buddhist tillhörande den tibetanska traditionen.

10/3 Per Faxneld - Lucifers lovtalare: Litterära, politiska och religiösa satanister före 1900-talets mitt.

I denna föreläsning möter vi en rad figurer från svunna tider, som alla beundrade Hin Håle på olika sätt:

Romantiska poeter i 1800-talets England, som ville störta monarkin med Satan som symbol för friheten. Svenska socialdemokrater och anarkister som hyllade Satan som borgerskapets ärkefiende.

Teosofer och surrealisminspirerade sexualmystiker som uppfattade Lucifer som bringare av andlig upplysning… Vi får också se prov på lätt pornografisk satanistisk bildkonst från 1800-talets Belgien.

Per Faxneld är doktorand och lärare i religionshistoria vid Stockholms universitet. Han har skrivit boken “Mörkrets apostlar: satanism i äldre tid” och en rad artiklar om näraliggande ämnen.

24/3 Carl-Michael Edenborg - Om Alkemin.

Alkemin är en tusenårig tradition som vill göra en vitglödgad syntes av anden och materien i De vises sten som skänker evigt liv, oändlig rikedom och absolut kunskap. Poesin är det främsta medlet att lära ut metoden.

Fil. dr. C-M Edenborg berättar historien om en fascinerande lära som influerat många författare, tänkare och konstnärer under århundraden.

Salon Fosforos - og midnattsbål på Grefsenkollen i morgen mandag - et par detaljer:

Selskapet begynner ved 1800 i leiligheten på Grünerløkka, med musikalske innslag fra omtrent kl 2000. Transport med maxitaxier til Grefsenkollen er bestilt til ca kl 2230. Det blir anledning til å gi beskjed i løpet av kvelden for å sikre seg plass i taxien, som kommer til å koste ca 40 kr hver vei pr person (cash!)

The Yes Men are group of activists who impersonate the powerful in order to publicly humiliate them when they are doing something wrong. In some ways they act as publicists for activist issues, and their spectacles have had extensive coverage in global media, and the films that go behind the scenes with them (The Yes Men, 2004, and The Yes Men Fix the World, 2009) have received critical praise and numerous awards (IDFA Audience Award, Berlin Panorama Audience Award, Grierson Award).

“To pull off their spectacles, the Yes Men use a truckload of film-making methods and tools, from the scripting and controlled processes of fiction, to the hard research and observational techniques of the documentarian.

In this participatory presentation, the Yes Men will speak for an hour about their work, following which two hours will be dedicated to discussing and brainstorming ideas from participants. Roll up your sleeves and be prepared to get elbow-deep in meaningful mischief!”

The lecture series at Konsthöskolan starts off on the 4th of November with luminary and artist Carl Abrahamsson presenting film maker Kenneth Anger, and his relationship to Aleister Crowley. Further there will be inquieries into the phenomenon of Haitan Vodoun, the art of Austin Osman Spare and the psychedelic culture of the 60’s. The series concludes on the 2nd of December with cognitive neuroscientist Julia Udden giving her perspectives on what can be learned from contemporary psychedelic research.

4/11 Carl Abrahamsson - Om Kenneth Angers filmskapande och dess relation till Aleister Crowley och det psykedeliska 60-talet.

Carl Abrahamsson är en av de främsta kännarna av filmaren och konstnären Kenneth Angers arbeten.

Carl har vid ett flertal tillfällen intervjuat Kenneth Anger och skrivit flera artiklar om honom och hans arbeten.

Carl är också en av de personer i Sverige som är kunnigast i ämnet ockultism och dess kopplingar till populärkulturen.

Vi kommer också att titta på ett urval av Kenneth Angers filmer i samband med föreläsningen.

11/11 Roberto N Peyre - I PUT A SPELL ON U! - Vodoun som aural/visuellt fenomen, praktik och organisation.

Roberto arbetar som konstnär och har gjort ett flertal studieresor till Haiti som är vodouns hemland.

18/11 Fredrik Söderberg - Austin Osman Spare, målare, magiker och visionär

Austin Osman Spare var en av de första surrealisterna som utforskade det undermedvetna i sitt arbete. Han var en av pionjärerna inom automatisk teckning och skrift. Spare undersökte och utarbetade metoder för drömtydning. Man kan häröra flera av hans arbeten till systrarna Maggie and Kate Fox arbeten runt automatisk skrift och spiritism.

Fredrik Söderberg vikarierar som lektor i måleri på Konsthögskolan under ht 2009 och vt 2009.

02/12 Julia Udden - Om drogers påverkan på sinnet

Hallucinogena droger, centralstimulantia, opioider, sedativa droger, rusmedel, psykofarmaka, det finns många olika sätt att aktivt påverka sitt sinnestillstånd. Hur mycket har vetenskapen kommit fram till om hur dessa typer av droger påverkar hjärnan och psyket? Kan drogupplevelsen ses som en slags simulering av upplevelsen hos psykiskt sjuka? Vi kommer att gå igenom de grundläggande systemen av hjärnsafter som är inblandade. Vissa delar av hjärnan påverkas i större grad än andra och vi kommer att se vilka funktioner dessa delar är associerade med. De viktigaste bieffekterna av droger, både kort- och långsiktigt, bland annat på minnet och belöningssystemet kommer att behandlas.

Julia Uddén är doktorand i kognitiv neurovetenskap på Karolinska Institutet och Donders Institutet i Holland. Hennes forskning handlar om språket och det sekventiella tänkandets evolution och neurobiologi. Hjärnans farmakologi (substanser) är en central komponent. I och med sina forskningsvistelser i det drogliberala landet Holland har hon kunnat studera drogernas effekter på hjärnan och beteendet på nära håll.

The Spaceship Earth Salon is an initiative started by an Oslo-based group of architects, designers, thinkers, artists, magicians and industrialists– wishing to transform the contemporary notion of “Scandinavian Design”. To hijack the term, rid it of historicism, retro-estheticism, moralism and celebritism. To forge a new current, embracing science, technology, magic, contemporary culture and a radical paradigm of sustainable design.

Our means will include the production of a series of salons – complementary mirror happenings to existing fairs and events within the industry; addressing issues, allowing for meetings, professional friendships, conspiracies and experiences that otherwise would not have taken place.

The extended Spaceship Crew are throwing a series of dinner parties in Oslo - every Thursday until midwinter - with a mix of good friends, conspirators and new acquaintances.

100 years has passed since Filippo Marinetti kicked off his futurist war on the stupidity of tradition!  Check out the modest but interesting exhibition of Italian futurist prints currently on display at Vigelandsmuseet in Oslo.

The exhibition lasts until 3rd of May before it travels on to München, Bratislava, Warszawa & Kiel.

“Green is the new black”, it is said. It is “in” to think green and to show that you care. The trend is clear;we buy more ecological products than ever before, but at the same time, the total consumption of clothes is growing. Many firms make small, ecological concessions in order to justify themselves, so-called greenwashing. How much does the ordinary consumer know about clothing firms and the products they buy? When you read names like “Leaf Tee” and “Bamboo Printed Wrap” on 100% recycled price tags, you would think the garment was environment-friendly. Often, firms give their products “green” names in order to convince the costumer that they are eco-friendly. And it works.
For what are eco-friendly clothes and green fashion really about? Are they about showing others that you think about the environment, or about a real commitment to the environment? It is in the nature of fashion to continually change direction. Will green fashion disappear, or will it miraculously stay in the public`s awarness as one of the first trends that manage to hold its ground in the eternally changing cycles of fashion? Or will all these good intentions simply kill fashion as we know it today?
We are not environmental activists. We are two newly qualified clothes designers who have adressed a number of issues about the clothes sector. The question we ask is how can we create clothes that can be used in several different ways and have longer useful lifetime? Is it possible to create clothes you can wear on a hike and then go straigth to a party, all in the same outfit? Our Utopia would be that the customers buy fewer clothes and take care of, and lengthen the lifetime of, our products.

Experience experimental vocalist and sound artist Runhild Gammelsæter in an interactive impro-act with guest vocalist Eli Goldstein and the ongoing Green Man performance by Esben Vinsnes. Runhild will fill Spaceship Earth with her rare soundscape several times during the 10-hour Salon!

Runhild was a 17-year-old foreign exchange student from Norway when she joined Thorr’s Hammer along with Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson (musician). After 6 weeks, which was the time it took to release Sannhet i Blodet and record Dommedagsnatt, the band split up due to Runhild returning to Oslo, Norway. Dommedagsnatt was releaed soon afterwards in 1996 via Southern Lord Records. The four other members of Thorr’s Hammer went on to form the band Burning Witch.

In 2006, she helped form the band Khlyst (band) along with James Plotkin and Tim Wyskida. The album Chaos is My Name was released the same year.

On June 28, 2008, her debut solo album, Amplicon (album), was released through Utech Records.
Runhild Gammelsæter also has a PhD in cell physiology from the Faculty of Medicine of the university of Oslo.

On his card, it says “Creator of Movements”. Kyrre Texnæs was raised in a shoeshop and he has ever since then been interested in how we humans walk and navigate ourselves through life, both litterally and metaphorically. From an early age Kyrre consciously cultivated qualities such as consciousness, movement and compassion, and his training made him succeed in numerous fields.

Throughout his work and his interactive sessions with large groups of people he hopes to inspire to actions of wisdom, in joyful and creative ways, with an essential understanding of the reality we live in.

Nothing like coming face to face with a Master of Evil. I can only imagine what I was thinking at the time. This photo was taken in November 1979 when I met Darth Vader at Gold Circle in Columbus, Ohio.

During 2 simultaneous journeys in Berlin and New York, an archive of experience (atlas of emotion) was established. Through conceiving presence, the project Transcendence crystallizes the condition of sensing one space while imagining / conceiving the presence of another - a process that mirrors the shared experience of being in two places at the same time, whilst co-existing in the shared virtual space.

Controlled (or Closed) Ecological Life Support Systems (acronym CELSS) are a type of scientific endeavor to create a self-supporting life support system for space stations and colonies typically through controlled closed ecological systems, such as the BioHome, BIOS-3 and Biosphere 2.

CELSS was first pioneered by the Soviet Union during the famed “Space Race” in the 1950s-60s. Originated by Konstantin Tsiolkovsky and furthered by V.I. Vernadsky, the first forays into this science were the use of closed, unmanned ecosystems, expanding into the research facility known as the BIOS-3.

We are standing on a sphere, (qt movie, 4.3mb) held to its surface by the forces of gravity, not a flat world with edges to the north, south, east and west. Fuller designed a tool which helps us to better perceive the rotating sphere on which we reside, a place he liked to call “Spaceship Earth.”

With a pack of good friends aboard, surrealists, immediatists, architects, designers, biologists, artists, anthropologists, psychonauts, magicians, gypsies, musicians, and black metal heroes we are happy to announce the very first issue of the Space Ship Earth Salon.

As a setting for this first salon - we have invited mushroom biologist Ketil Stoknes and artist Ingvild Fagerli to collaborate in the production of a spatial enactment of the inner, “un-conscious” life of the furniture fair -and a party that might take the scene of its hinges.

Being an “un-fair” - a mirror event of the actual fair - our means of expression will include spectacular surprises from the Scandinavian contemporary underground - in music, dance, art and magick - celebrating the inception of still “un-designed” & “un-manufactured” products and spaces - addressing the scene’s urgent need for fun, beauty, meaning and action.

The Ship will function as a temporary, non-local showspace for the professionals constituting its ever shifting crew - seeking to literarily put to life current discourses and questions, to make some very interesting meetings take place and provide fresh inspiration and new opportunities for forward looking individuals and businesses in the industry - having fun while doing it.

The Space Ship Earth Salon is scheduled for apparition at major events in design and architecture internationally. Its aim is to advocate an optimistic view of science, technology and reality production, radical strategies for intelligent design - and the free exploration of the human body - including inner and outer space.
