AN EVENT WHICH REACTS TO ANY FAIR AS OFF-FAIR…It is an UN-FAIR activity.

The Spaceship Earth Salon is an initiative started by an Oslo-based group of architects, designers, thinkers, artists, magicians and industrialists– wishing to transform the contemporary notion of “Scandinavian Design”. To hijack the term, rid it of historicism, retro-estheticism, moralism and celebritism. To forge a new current, embracing science, technology, magic, contemporary culture and a radical paradigm of sustainable design.

Our means will include the production of a series of salons – complementary mirror happenings to existing fairs and events within the industry; addressing issues, allowing for meetings, professional friendships, conspiracies and experiences that otherwise would not have taken place.

It is the intention of the Spaceship crew to:

- Cater optimism about the intelligent use of technology to positively affect ourselves, the industry and the environment
- Explore the human body as a treasure house of knowledge about who we are, meaning, design, life and evolution.
- Challenge intersections of cutting edge biotechnology, nanotechnology, robotics, information technology and design
- Advance the human exploration and colonization of outer space.
- Reintroduce magic, surrealism, activism, neoshamanism and reality relativism into the fields of architecture and design
- Dig deeply into uncharted parts of Scandinavian culture for inspiration, ideas, identity, meaning and fun
- Discover and implement an optimistic, fantastic, yet actionable paradigm of sustainable design
- Support and create opportunities for creative, individuals, businesses and institutions
- Embrace the urgency for conscious participtation in our own evolutionary game - envisioning this as an imperative for action and celebration, rather than a dull responsibility.
